1.Overview

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of protection to your Meelance account. By requiring both your password and a unique verification code generated on your mobile device, 2FA prevents unauthorized entries even if someone obtains your password.

Because Meelance contains professional details, portfolio assets, and identity information, we recommend all members activate 2FA credentials immediately upon registration.

2.Requirements

Before launching your 2FA registration flow, please ensure you have ready:

  • Mobile Device — An active iOS or Android smartphone.
  • Authenticator App — Google Authenticator, Duo Mobile, 1Password, or Authy installed on your device.
  • Safe Storage — A secure location (like a physical notebook or password vault) to write down backup recovery codes.

3.Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Log into your Meelance account and select your profile icon in the navigation bar. Open Account Settings.
  2. Go to the Security & Sign in tab and locate theTwo-Factor Authentication section. ClickConfigure 2FA.
  3. Verify your current password to confirm your identity.
  4. Use your mobile device's authenticator app to scan the displayedQR Code. If scanning is unavailable, enter the provided text string key manually.
  5. Your authenticator app will generate a 6-digit confirmation code. Input this code into the Meelance screen and clickVerify & Activate.
  6. The system will display a set of 10 staticBackup Recovery Codes. Save these codes immediately. Click Finish.

4.Important Notes

!
Backup Recovery Codes

If you lose your mobile device, backup recovery codes are the only way to gain access to your profile. Store these codes offline. Each code is single-use and will be disabled once input.

5.Troubleshooting

Validation Code Mismatch Error

If the 6-digit code from your authenticator app is continuously rejected:

  • Check your mobile device's system time settings. Ensure your device is set to update date and time automatically based on cellular/GPS networks. Authenticator codes rely on precise time synchronization.
  • Confirm that the code has not expired. The numeric sequence refreshes automatically every 30 seconds.

Lost Phone Device

If you cannot access your authenticator app but have your backup codes: click the "Use Backup Code" link on the login prompt, input one of your unused recovery codes, and disable 2FA once inside your settings panel to configure a new device.

6.Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, inside Security settings, you can choose SMS text verification as an alternative 2FA mode. However, we strongly recommend authenticator apps due to the vulnerability of SMS to SIM-swap attacks.
If you run out of backup codes or believe they have been compromised, open your Security configuration panel and click "Regenerate Backup Codes" to deactivate the previous set and create new ones.
